Satellite Photographs
This photograph shows the Kombos peninsular at the mouth of the River Gambia. The Atlantic is to the West. The river is at the top of the picture and runs from the East. The town at the top right of the picture is the capital Banjul and this is where I work. However, I live in the urban area (shown pink) at the centre of the photograph. The large green mass on the right is an area of mangrove swamps and bolongs (tidal rivers).
The road to Banjul is a dual carriageway on a causeway along the coast at the top of the picture, including the bridge across Oyster Creek. The tourist beaches are on the NorthWest atlantic coast. The airport runway can be seen at the foot of the picture.
